The Housing Choice Voucher Program waiting list will reopen on November 1, 2021. The Housing Authority will begin accepting applications to be placed on the waiting list at that time.
The Housing Choice Voucher Program, otherwise known as the Section 8 Program, is the federal government’s major program for assisting low income families, the elderly and disabled to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private marketplace.
Since the assistance is provided on behalf of the family or individual, participants are able to find their own housing including, a single family homes, apartments, or townhouses.
The participant is free to choose any housing that meets their needs and the requirements of the program. Minimum standards of health and safety must be met.
Housing Choice Vouchers are administered through this office and receive funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to administer the program.
The waiting list for the program is closed therefore we are not accepting applications.
When the waiting list opens, it will be advertised in the Gallipolis Daily Tribune and this web site.
